Today the Virginia Department of Forestry authorized Conserv to move forward with the design and implementation of a prototype “marketplace” or quasi-auction platform for water supply-related ecosystem services. The simple platform will allow the posting of conservation practices by landowners seeking to compete for funds available through the F2F project.
It is expected that two auction “seasons” will be completed during the project – August 2010 and 2011. The marketplace will resemble a simple listing service, deployed though this website, to allow information dissemination and submission of eligible conservation projects.
VDOF will be responsible for selection of projects and working with landowners thereafter.
